Hard SF fans -- and especially Dune (the book) fans -- all seem to hate
it, but apparently Frank Herbert thought it was well done.
It's not one of my favourite films, but I thought it an improvement
over the book.

Yes.On the other hand, the Sci Fi Channel did what I'd long thought
someone should do: a mini-series of /Dune/ leaving nothing out (that I
noticed). I had trouble staying awake. Maybe if I'd seen it when I

I've always thought a series was the way to go... to add stuff. Don't
try to copy the book, but rather, tell the book's story in a new
medium. Probably a 13 episode series, but still.
